We start with this first section that leaves Vilafranca del Penedès and follows the southern limit of the route, although it initially goes north, to look for Granada and Les Cabanyes. It goes all the way along tracks and paths between vineyards until, after passing Pacs del Penedès, we reach Santa Margarida i els Monjos, one of the points where the main roads that cross the Penedès cross.
Until we pass the train track, already in front of the Castle of Penyafort, we will alternate asphalt with a bike lane that will make us pass in front of the CIARGA, interesting for everything that explains the republican aviation. As we skirt this southern boundary to look for Castellet Castle and once we have crossed the Foix River for the first time, we will travel along a charming paved rural road, with the vineyard as the precise setting. Mandatory stop in Castellet, an emblematic village that dominates the castle perched on the marsh: castle, village and marsh form a privileged image, like a large oasis that accompanies the beauty of the environment.
Here begins the route along the southernmost part of the route. Good tracks and asphalt rural roads to Sant Jaume dels Domenys. In between we pass by the Arboç, of which the Giralda stands out, and by Banyeres, with the ascent to its castle, from where we will have views of the whole Penedès. The end of the section, in Sant Jaume, where we will enter through the estate to see the Arcs aqueduct, a sample of late Roman architecture, will serve us to rest.
